Sword and Sandal Movie Reviews and Articles
(with an Emphasis on Slavegirls)

Now these are frickin' SLAVEGIRLS. Mostly naked, wearing bondage-gear-like
ornamentation (check out the gold chastity belt on the far left) and looking
mighty fine. More bondage gear would be better but this is ... pretty damn good.

What Should A Slavegirl Look Like? Ask A Virtual Slavegirl! The artificial cyberspace world known as "Second Life" (think "World of Warcraft" for grownups, where people design their own scenarios) has a very large and active group of roleplayers who like to participate in sims based on John Norman's Gor novels. A goodly percentage (some say the majority) are women who like to roleplay at being slavegirls at least part of the time. They have an enormous range of costuming available from virtual clothing designers. How do they dress? Let's just say, "Me like. Me like very much."

Witless on Lothar The first chapter of the first book in the Lotharionian Epic Cycle Saga Series is approporiately called "The Beginningnation" and deals with what happens when Ann Coaltar wakes up naked and chained to a rock after what was apparently one hell of a party, and meets up with two Renfair types. If you want to sword and sandal stories done rig

ht, I guess you have to write them yourself, sometimes.

Legend of the Seeker Gets Bondage-licious The first sword and sorcery project to actually make it to the screen has proven to be a source of incredibly varied bondage imagery, with four out of the last four episodes containing damsels in distress. An extremely good omen for the upcoming projects listed in our "Sword and Stuff Project News article. We report, with caps.

Sword and Stuff Project news Our incredible research staff has put together a listing of up and coming sword and sandal TV and movie projects, along with a brief bit about their status. We really weren't kidding about all the stuff in the pipes. There's probably more stuff out there we don't know about, but we're far too egotistical to admit that.

Hercules and the Tyrants of Babylon -- Hercules pairs off (each of his pecs has its own zip code) with the three Tyrants of Babylon and the King of Assyria in a movie full of intrigue and betrayal and women chained like animals. We like. Plus, there the stupidest civil engineering project in the history of civilization. We like a lot.

Circle of Iron -- Move over, Triangle of Death! Begone, Polygons of Doom! Stupid has a new favorite shape! We review the ridiculously pretention Zen martial arts (unintentional) comedy Circle of Iron.

Thor and the Amazon Women -- Mass yoke bondage! Butt-hanging-out togas! Gladiatrices in life or death struggles in the Triangle of Death, and wearing primitive hoop skirts in the Irregular Polygons of Doom! It's a Tarzan movie! It's a Taur movie! No, it's a Thor movie! Whatever it is, it's frickin' hilarious!

Slavegirls From Beyond Infinity -- This movie is chock-full of bondage -- and Loosies, yes, it's an award winner -- but it also handles the slavegirl imagery problem better than any other mainstream film I've seen.

Deathstalker -- Deathstalker is without a doubt the best B-movie sword and sandal flick of the 80s. It's got plenty of fighting, slavegirl T&A all over the place, and of course bound, naked slavegirls. being molested. One of them is played by Playmate Barbi Benton.

The Arena (2001) -- This sword and sandal flick is a member of the no-bondage zone and also sucks in almost every respect. I included it because it has important lessons for the would be sword and sandal filmmaker. Like, don't hire Playmates as your leads and then dress them in dowdy rags throughout most of the movie.

Fatal Conflict -- This is not a sword and sandal movie but it dramatically shows the power of using gags to symbolize slavegirlhood. And chastity belts. And collars. And not a hell of a lot else. So you can see why I included it.

What Should A Slave Girl Look Like? (in a Sword and Sandal Movie) aka The Hottitude of Servitude. An in-depth examination of slave girl imagery in sword and sandal movies, with an eye to how such imagery can be used to pump up the hottitude and the drama in sword and sandal movies. Includes the Hottitudinal Servitude Index and an analysis of slavegirl scenes in movies and other media.

Son of Sinbad -- Our review of the Arabian Nights movie for Dad is now available on Bondagerotica. Marie Blanchard bound and gagged, Sally Forrest chained and exotic dancers all over the place!

NEW to Bondagerotica! When Good Bondage Happens To Bad Movies -- An examination of the bondage on the movie Taur the Mighty Hunter, which is great. The movie itself, well ...

Fighting Slavegirls of Earth -- How not to handle a fighting slavegirl scene, as demonstrated in an episode of the horribly done Birds of Prey television series.

The Slavegirl Mystique -- An article examining how slavegirls should be treated in movies.

The Slavegirl Auction Scene -- John Norman showed exactly how it should be done in Dancer of Gor, but filmmakers just haven't figure it out yet.

Imbalance of Power -- Why the slavegirl's dilemma is much more dramatically compelling than a mere captive's or prisoner's dilemma.

Barbarian Queen -- One of the best Gor-influenced sword and sandal movies of the 80s.

Gor -- The movie is not NEARLY as influenced by the novels that are its source material as it should be. It appears to have mistaken bondage for ... silly hats.

Fencer of Minerva -- The best Gorean sword and sandal movie may well be ... a Japanese adult cartoon. No kidding.

Warrior Queen -- A movie that explains -- but does not excuse -- the Gor movies.

Jupiter's Darling -- This sixties blockbuster musical was one of the four movies considered responsible for sinking the studio that created it.

Roman Scandals of 1933 -- Kinky people, our great or great-grandfathers.

Sign of the Cross -- A Christian sword and sandal epic proves to be mighty good cover for some mighty tasty sex scenes of all kinds ... including bondage.
